Social media reacts to Oklahoma’s 13-2 win to advance to WCWS

The Oklahoma Sooners were supposed to be in a rebuilding year. They weren’t supposed to win the SEC. They weren’t supposed to be a title contender yet again. But here we are. The Sooners won the SEC and two weekends into the NCAA Tournament, the Sooners are heading back to Oklahoma City.

For the ninth consecutive season, the Sooners are in the Women’s College World Series with a chance to win their fifth straight national championship.

The Sooners advanced with a powerful performance from the lineup that featured four home runs, including two from true freshman Gabbie Garcia, one from redshirt freshman Nelly McEnroe-Marinas, and one from sophomore Ella Parker. Yeah, the corps of this team, which includes sophomore Kasidi Pickering, who hit a home run in the game one 3-0 win, is still really young.

The Oklahoma Sooners also received a steady performance from junior pitcher Kierton Deal, who allowed two runs in four innings pitched for the win. She was relieved by true freshman Audrey Lowry, who’s now gone five appearances without allowing a run.

It was a performance reminiscent of the Oklahoma Sooners national title runs, and here’s how social media reacted to the win.
