Birkenstock 1774 has teamed up Maharishi on a new sandal capsule collection.

According to the German footwear brand, the new style is dubbed the “Mogami Terra Tech” and is described as “an ergonomic evolution of the archival Birkenstock silhouette that fuses Maharishi’s signature utilitarianism.”

First introduced in 2024 as part of Birkenstock’s Active Range, the Mogami style is built to handle any terrain, combining the brand’s signature shoe design with outdoor-ready functionality, the company noted. Intended to heighten the experience of walking, Birkenstock added that the new Mogami Terra Tech is crafted from top to bottom with adaptable features especially made for outdoor excursions.

The Mogami Terra Tech’s biological and engineered materials combine in natural shades like camouflage fatigues, extracted from terrestrial environments saturated with brush, soil and clay. The two straps are composed of suede and nylon webbing, each with a high-function, quick-release buckle as a centerpiece.

Below, its polyurethane sole is molded with grip and protection, converting Birkenstock’s signature cork footbed into its waterproof iteration. Additionally, a detachable crossbody strap and double carabiner allow the style to be carried while walking barefoot on soft ground.

This new launch comes one month after Birkenstock 1774 reimagined its Arizona CosNy sandal in nylon. The Arizona CosNy design is helmed by Birkenstock’s Paris-based creative studio which takes the lead on the seasonal 1774 collections and brand collaborations.

These new collection also comes at a time when Birkenstock continues to increase its global retail footprint with a slate of several new openings around the world. Most recently, the German footwear brand opened the doors to its latest American outpost in Nashville, Tenn. Located at 2212 12th Avenue South, the company’s new Nashville store marks the tenth Birkenstock-owned retail location in the U.S.

Along with Birkenstock’s Nashville opening, the company has been busy building its international presence as well. In March, the company opened its fourth London store. Staying in Europe, this year also saw the opening of Birkenstock’s second store in Paris, its first store in the Netherlands in Amsterdam, and converted its Cologne, Germany pop-up into a permanent retail location.

Over in Asia, the company opened a special year-long pop-up shop in Kyoto, Japan on the iconic Shijo Street within a traditional Machiya townhouse, as well as transformed its Shanghai, China pop-up into a permanent space.

The new Mogami Terra Tech sandal will launch on May 30 at Maharishistore.com, 1774.com, and selected Birkenstock stores, as well as at Maharishi’s London and New York locations.
